What normally happens during this holiday is that people gather together as a family to celebrate the Spring Festival. A lot of people actually travel back to their hometown to see their relatives, and it was no different for me. I went with my parents to see my grandparents and other relatives, and we had a big dinner during Chinese New Year"s Eve.Part of the tradition is that adults give kids and teenagers money that’s stuffed inside red envelopes. And as a kid, I received money from all my older relatives, like my uncle, aunts, grandparents, and parents. I don’t remember exactly how much I got, but it was a lot of money, especially for a kid. I remember being very happy and excited about it. I mean, you expect to receive money, but it still feels very nice.Anyway, my parents told me to not spend the money recklessly, and I tried to follow their advice. I don’t remember exactly what I used it on, but I must have spent most of it on food and entertainment. I didn’t buy anything super expensive, so my money lasted for a long time, at least several months—maybe up to half a year.
