Topic: An Important Conversation You Had RecentlyPart 2 (Cue Card): Describe an important conversation you had recently.Well, the important conversation that I had recently was with my wife, actually, and it was all about whether or not we should buy a new car and if we should buy a new car, what type of new car should we buy, and how expensive should that car be?So the background of this is that ever since we moved to the UK, we"ve had a very old car, and it"s about 15 years old. It"s very small. It doesn"t go very fast, but it"s been pretty useful. It"s been pretty reliable.It"s not had too many problems until recently. And recently it started to have some quite serious problems with the power steering. So the power steering would seize up while we were driving, and we realised that, okay, this is going to be a serious issue.So we started to discuss the possibility of getting a new car. Now, my preference would have been to have gotten a car around the same kind of value as the one that we have because I don"t like spending money.My wife, on the other hand, does like to spend money, and she"s pushed quite hard for a quite high-level car, a pretty luxurious car like a Mercedes or a BMW.So we discussed it for a long time, and it"s obviously a very important decision because, A, it"s a serious and significant financial investment, and B, it"s something that we"ll use every day, and if it"s not safe or if it"s not right for us, it"s going to cause a lot of problems.So after a lot of back and forth, a lot of discussion, a few little arguments along the way, we eventually managed to reach a compromise, which was that we wouldn"t get an entirely new car and we wouldn"t get a car of really top, top quality and top luxury like a Mercedes or a BMW.We"d go a level down and get a car a few years older. So maybe three or four years old, but still a nice car that looks new and feels new and definitely feels like an upgrade from our 15-year-old, very, very beaten-up car whose steering isn"t working anymore.So that was the important conversation I had about the next car that we"re going to buy.
