A growing number of people are becoming aware of the transformations brought about by technological advances especially the birth of computers, mobiles phones and the Internet. However, despite all the benefits that electronic devices have brought, many people contend that there are more drawbacks after children changing their way of spending leisure time. Personally, I believe that children have obtained more benefits after the alternation.

First of all, with the advent of computers, free access to various kinds of information has been realized online. Since the source of online information is quite abundant, under the guidance and supervision of parents young people might benefit from early exposure to the Internet in their leisure time. In other words，if people are able to browse the Internet at a young age, they can start their learning process earlier and as a result may obtain more knowledge compared with the previous generation.

Besides, the cognitive development of children can be substantially enhanced by enjoying new technology in the free time. For example, strategic computer games such as Might& Magic Heroes can cultivate children’s sense of crisis-solving as players have to deal with unexpected situations which can never be experienced in the the real world. More importantly, virtual world gives children the opportunity to try the "errors", and through "archiving" and other ways they can try a variety of solutions, which is almost impossible in real life.

Admittedly, this alternation might also give rise to the communicative disorders in some cases if children indulge in the virtual world. A case in point is that numerous college students in China prefer to spend a large amount of time online rather than hang out with their friends in their free time, which may give rise to the alienation among them.

To summarize, although addiction to computers may lead to disorders, I am firmly convinced of the benefits brought by computers mainly because of the enormous amount of information as well as the diversified types of mentally challenging virtual games that are available online.
