The excessive consumption of natural resources has drawn the public’s massive attention since it may lead to disastrous consequences if we turn a blind eye to this phenomenon. In this essay, the potential causes of it will be analysed and adoptable measures will be initiated to mitigate this dilemma.

Consuming large amount of energy inevitably causes various problems. The most obvious one is the environmental contamination brought by energy use especially fossil fuels, which release huge amounts of pollutants. One of the consequences of that the global warming will be aggravated since the huge emission of green house gases. Apart from this, if there were not enough alternative resources to be applied, running out of these resources may lead to the disorder of the society. For instance, people’s living standard would decrease directly without the accessibility of fresh water; factories might have to be shut down due to the lack of relative materials. Hence, a society with chaos can be anticipated if these resources are consuming arbitrarily.

Several measures can be taken to mitigate this problem. Firstly, it is the government’s responsibility to enact rigid laws to regulate the distribution of resources. For example, setting limitation of high energy-consuming industries may stimulate these enterprises to enhance their levels of resource utilisation and to adopt more eco-friendly equipment. In addition, raising the public’s awareness of environment-protection can also be a feasible solution like encouraging people to reduce the use of disposable products and recycling the water if possible. In this way, the resources used in people’s daily routine can be decreased, which can be made the utmost of in some indispensable domains.

To sum up, the increasing consumption of natural resources may trigger various adverse influences on environment and human being’s per se, and governments and individuals could work together to solve this problem.
