这个标志其实就是“芯片” 也可以理解为 “电子护照”， 关于这项技术： 马来西亚于1998年3月启用电子护照，是全世界第*个推出和使用这项技术的国家。之后，国际民航组织ICAO对电子护照标准化为Doc 9309文件“电子机读旅行证件（eMRTD）”标准。 目前世界各国签发的电子护照都依照此标准设计，此标准规定了生物特征识别的标准，其中人脸识别为强制性要求，各国签发部门还可选择性对敏感数据进行加密。 并且在这项标准中包括了通讯方式、存储格式等内容，如证件持有人的容貌影像必须为JPEG或JPEG2000格式存储在芯片内，而且芯片的存储容量至少32千字节的EEPROM，还需要符合ISO/IEC 14443通讯协议，保证与各地区的出入境口岸的护照阅读器可与护照非接触式交互内容，实现自助出入境。
