16. 与家人共事Part 2Describe a family member you are willing to work with 描述一个你将来想与之共事的家庭成员You should say:Who he/she isWhether you worked together beforeWhat kind of work you would like to do with him/herAnd explain how you feel about this family member示范答案：When I saw this topic, the first one that popped into my head is my uncle. He is a businessman, who is a perfect business partner to work with.  He has the business instinct since his childhood. So, after college graduation, all his peers became salaried in a company, but he was mulling over how to build his own business. He opened up a hot-pot restaurant. You know, the seed money was his own savings in college. His motto is always ‘take care of the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves". But the money was only enough to cover the rental and renovation fee of this run-down restaurant. It was a semi-profitable business at the beginning, but after 3 years, his business took off. He works 10 hours a day, training the waiters, supervising the food quality, working on the secret ingredients, so on and so forth. You know, nowadays, a business always scales up by branding, marketing, convincing the customers to buy something they don"t need, namely ripping them off. But my uncle generated handsome profit only by word of mouth. I have never worked with him before, but I am quite into the idea of working with him in the future.I want to use my marketing expertise to help him build several chain restaurants so that he could have a more hands-off approach to his business.He strikes me as a hardworking and thrifty person.And I admire him since he built his business from scratch, he is really a self-made man. Most importantly, he is a trustworthy family member and that"s why I want to work with him. Part 31.What kinds of family businesses are common in China?Nowadays, the family businesses that grow fruit and vegetables are quite popular because they can use the live-streaming platforms to sell the produce directly to the public. Thanks to the development of the logistics, the farming businesses don"t have to deal with the merchants or dealers. They can sell their products in bulk and generate handsome profit. They are quite prevalent on all kinds of live streaming commerce platforms. 2.Is it good to work with family members? Why?  I guess it"s really a double-edged sword. On the upside, working with family members can reduce the transactional cost. There is a flat hierarchy among the families. So they don"t have that many conflicts and can work towards the same goal. But on the downside, working with family members can be quite cumbersome, because if they are incompetent, it"s hard to fire them or give them a demotion. 3.Why do people want to do family business?  It varies from person to person. For some people, when they have a startup, they don"t have enough seed money. So working with family members can save considerable cost. Thus, the company can stay lean and move fast. For the others, they simply believe that working with family members is more secure because they are trustworthy. Families have a stronger bond, and they don"t betray each other that easily. 4. What benefits are there when working for big companies? There are a lot of merits. In the short term, working for a big company equals high salaries and stock options. Also, there are a lot of fringe benefits that are not available in the small businesses. But in the long term, working for a big corporate or even a multinational can build up your CV. After working for three or five years, you can jump ship to another company and be a well-paid executive. 编辑：Moon▼IDE英创教育
